Nokia built in email client + GMail = Headache

June 23rd, 2009 admin Comments off

Here goes the story: Nokia N97/Nokia N96 both using the built in email client, my email account is on GMail, as most of the people out there simply for the fact that the simple interface of GMail combined with the powerful features can not be found anywhere else (my personal opinion). So after configuring the built in client for GMail i try to download my mail. Unfortunately on both phones I am unable to get the last emails and this problem has been going on for a while. The "Updating mailbox" message stays on for a few minutes but there are no newer mails on the phone. After trying whatever I could think of, I decided that there seems to be no solution on my problem, so I decided to drop a line to Nokia Support. And guess what, four weeks and no answer. Just perfect!

Fake Nokia N97 – Watch out!

June 23rd, 2009 admin Comments off

Just a few weeks after the official release of the Nokia N97, fakes started to appear on eBay and other online stores. So watch out! It seems that in China they can make a replica on whatever they want and it seems like nobody cares. As you can see from the picture above all the Nokia branding is on the phone, except it does not have anything to do with Nokia or the real Nokia N97. The fake Nokia N97 is called Nokia N97i, it might confuse some people, but the phone actually looks like a real Nokia, they even managed to work out something for the menu to be S60 like. Although this phone looks a lot like the original there are some differences like the audio jack and charger jack on the side while on the real N97 the audio jack is located on the top and the charging is via USB. Take a look at our gallery bellow to see what the N97 replica looks like.

June 21st, 2009 admin Comments off

A lot of people will be asking this question, Nokia N97 or iPhone 3GS? But for S60 addicts like me and I believe, like most of the people visiting this site, the choice will be clear, Nokia N97! Although in more cases this seems to be a predefined choice, I think that it will be good to compare the two phones and see what are the advantages and disadvantages of each mobile phone.

So here is a quick walk through the appearance, form, features like connectivity, image/video capturing and software for the two mobile phones that will be on the wish list of many people around the world.

PhoneTorch – Use your phone's LED flash as a torch

June 21st, 2009 admin Comments off

How many times you have found yourself into the dark looking for the keys or something else. How many times you have used the camera key or the bright display of your mobile phone to light up the floor and find what the hell are you looking for. Well, I personally did all of those things so many times that I stopped counting. So now, there is a simple free application called PhoneTorch that uses the screen of your mobile phone or the LED flash of the phone's camera as a torch so that you can have the LED flash on for how long you like. There is nothing much to say about PhoneTorch for S60 5th edition mobile phones as the Nokia N97 and the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, except that it does what it is supposed to do very well. Although you might thing you don't need this application, PhoneTorch might save you some trouble when it comes to it.

Birth, maturity, and the promise of eternal life.

June 20th, 2009 admin Comments off
A search on Google for the phrase "business theories" produces an impressive 9.5 million results, while a search for "business books" produces a staggering 257 million. Anyone would think that the same theories and ideas are being regurgitated in an eternal cycle of unoriginality, but I'm sure there's more to it than that.

Nokia N97 hands on review

June 13th, 2009 admin Comments off

Today we got our hand on a brand new Nokia N97 Black device, the phone every S60 geek wants to have in his collection. Although the Black version of the N97 has been referred to as the black sheep (by users favoring the Apple look alike design of the white version of this phone), we were very surprised to find out that this time Nokia have outdone themselves.

The black Nokia N97 looks really amazing in our hand, although not a business phone the polished metallic parts of the phone remind us of the ESeries and give the phone a more serious look. It is a phone that catches the eye for sure, but not only. Although in this review we will not speak about the software part of the phone, we must mention that that is a story for itself. We had a little time to try out the phone after the photo shoot and we will be using it as our primary test phone from now and WOW not only that this phone is super fast, the new S60 5th edition OS is enabling the hardware to really shine.
